Identity by Sandra Camacho and Filipa Magalhães

This project allows the viewer an interaction, through the webcam, with a sequence of three different videos creating an identity game. It’s the search and the discovery of the “I”.

As soon as the camera detects the viewer’s movement the corresponding video begins.

In caras 1, created during the WebcamLab, we still don’t know our identity, there’s an overlapping of the different faces.

In escape webcam the faces in the video disappear for a instant, and in that moment we see our face, it’s the approximation of the identity.

In espelho negro, the black mirror, we not only see our face but we see it in a true mirror, our identity is finally understood.

Several faces that, in constant loop, succeed themselves at a frenetic rhythm compose this small film. As soon as the camera detects any movement from the spectator the image stops on one of the video faces and the viewer’s face is combined, merged, through transparency, creating an identity game. Who is who?
