Progress by Ana Salta

This projecto is about a facility which pretends to show to the public that some simple and/or unnecessary actions are the main causes of the destruction of the planet. It starts in a room where we can have a vision of the nature, alive and virgin. Then, we go through a corridor with some obstacles, that can be overcomed by clicking in some buttons at the walls. Finally, there's another room. After entering this one, the door which connects to the corridor is closed and there's no way to go back. This room shows to the public a possible scenario of the future if the Mankind keeps with this kind of actions, I mean, a dead nature.

CRICHTON, Michael. 2004. State of Panic. Don Quixote, Lisbon.
"It is a most provocative book of Michael Crichton. It takes us from Iceland to Antarctica, the desert
of Arizona to Paris, from Los Angeles to the Solomon Islands, to show us that the close future
can be dominated by eco-terrorists who frighten us with a great
non-problem: the Global Warming. And that truly endangered species of
extinction may be the human species.
- Counterpoint of the documentary "A Disadvantage Truth", which shows through
fiction the possibility of Global Warming can not exist and, actually, this alarmism to the disaster can be an illusion caused by the major powers, charged with the
scientific research presented since they may manipulate the results to theirr
favour and as such there is the question of what is real or not.
"I came to the conclusion that the majority of environmental principles (such as sustainable development and the precautionary principle) have as a result the preservation of
the economic benefits of the West and thus constitute a modern form of
Imperialism in relation to the developing world. It is a nice way to
say 'We have, but we do not want you have, because it causes too much
pollution."

Global Warming – Frequently Asked Questions accessed on March 30, 2008. EASTERLING, David, Karl, Tom. National Climatic Data Center.m.
"Internationally, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), with the support of
United Nations (UN), World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations
Environment Program (UNEP), is the oldest and most authoritative body to provide advice
scientific entrepreneurs for the overall policy. The IPCC has met fully in
1990, 1995, 2001, and in 2007. They talk about subjects like "the builup of greenhouse gases,"
evidence, mandates, and forecasts of climate change, the impacts, and political opinion." Here you can find more scientific explanations about global warming.
It has several answers to frequently asked questions with explanations on the matter objectively and
graphics to illustrate the various types of situations.

COSTNER, Kevin. 1995. Waterworld. Universal Pictures and Lawrence Gordon.
"The world has changed. The layers of ice melted ... Those who survived adapted themselves."
A new world where the land is covered with water and the human race has to adapt to
survive in small boats and improvised floating cities

GLOBAL WARMING: Early Warning Signs accessed on March 31, 2008.
This site contains a map that illustrates the various consequences of global warming by
the whole world. Europe and North America are the areas in which they obtain more concrete data about it and the other continents are more difficult to obtain information.
The map is divided into two categories: fingerprints - events that are manifestations of long
term and large areas, indicated with yellow icons and Harbingers - events that
may become more common if global warming continues, indicated with
red icons.

For the present, it show us the lives of animals over the planet, well
as many different environments, with emphasis placed on these images in the series "The
Future ", which are considered the consequences of man. In" The Future "we are not only
faced with the possibility of future consequences, but
several experts, analyzing measures to be taken, consciencializações to develop and the role of
various social elements in this global problem.

EcoArtTech accessed on March 30, 2008.
"The EcoArtTech was established in 2005 with the aim of working with digital sustainable technologies
linked to the Internet as well as contemporary environments of artistic creation
on the environmentalism of modern life. "
On this site we find works by several artists, relating to the sustainability
of their own work whose themes revolve mostly around the environment.
